Welcome
to Haus Bürgel

Förderverein Haus Bürgel e. V.

The “Förderverein Haus Bürgel e. V.” and, above all, the Roman Museum with its many different services and activities for children, young people and adults, depend on the commitment of volunteers. The association currently has about 50 members and enjoys close ties with the Roman Museum.

Here you can find out about some of our diverse activities.

How we help

Guided museum tours

The Roman Museum offers a public tour on every first Sunday of the month, as well as exclusive tours that can be booked by groups. Both are led by volunteers who, as passionate enthusiasts for the Romans, share fascinating facts and little anecdotes in their lively narrations.

Events and activity days

From in-house events to attending local venues, an interesting program would not be possible without the commitment of the non-profit association.

This holds true for festivities such as the International Museum Day or Open Monument Day, but also for programs for kids and young people (especially school vacation activity days), where visitors learn and laugh together. Thanks to great teamwork and joint commitment, Haus Bürgel has established itself as an exciting destination for museum and event visitors over the last 30 years – which has only been possible through the incredible help of volunteers.

School classes – a hands-on approach to history

As an educational site, Haus Bürgel offers the opportunity for school classes and groups of children of different ages an informal approach to learning about Romans in the Rhineland. Museum tours, challenges, and craft activities are just a few of the services provided by a dedicated team of volunteers.

Academic lectures

Academic lectures on the topic of the Romans and local history are held at irregular intervals in our seminar room. On the day of these events, the organization is taken care of entirely by volunteers, and the events provide a nice opportunity to discuss common interests afterwards.

Get involved

Everyone brings their own strengths and interests to the table, creating a vibrant community with a diverse range of skills. Whether it’s a particular talent for sewing Roman togas, creating replicas of ancient tools, or coming up with activities to teach history in an exciting, interactive way. We will be happy to put you in touch with the appropriate working groups to further develop and shape the museum with new ideas and joint initiative.
